Never Never Review

Never Never (Never Never, #1)
Never Never (Never Never #1)
By Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher
Published January 7th, 2015 by Hoover Link
140 pages

5 stars - AWESOME!

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.

Complete strangers since this morning. He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.

Review:

I had not heard of this book before it was published but I started seeing authors and other readers tweeting about it. My attention was caught and I decided to check out what all the excitement was about. I am soo glad that I did! Never Never was amazing and has me wanting (needing) more! I love Colleen Hoover and I have read a few of her books but I haven't read anything of Tarryn Fisher's. They were both able to write so well though and I couldn't even tell there were two different authors.

This book is not that long and ends in such a big cliff hanger but it is totally worth it! The second part is supposed to be released in May so there is not that long to wait. I just can't even begin to explain how good this book was. It isn't what one would expect and there seems to be some supernatural thing going on but I'm not even sure about that.

The book starts off with Charlie coming to her senses in the middle of a hallway not knowing who she is or where she is at. She doesn't remember anything of her past or present. Silas and Charlie know each other (or so they are told) but they don't even remember each other. So they decide to figure out what is happening to them which is not an easy thing to do. Throughout the 140 pages Charlie and Silas learn things about themselves and each other.

I'm not going to say anymore because I think it'll be more exciting to learn everything else on your own. All I can say is that you won't regret trying this out!

Crown of Midnight Review

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2)
Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2)
By Sarah J. Maas
Published August 27th, 2013 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens
418 pages

5 stars - AN AWESOME SEQUEL!

"A line that should never be crossed is about to be breached.

It puts this entire castle in jeopardy—and the life of your friend."

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie...and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

Review:

Wow. I cannot begin to explain the FEELS that I had while reading this book! Just know that there were many of them and reading this book is like being on an emotional roller coaster. I don't even know how to begin to explain what went on in this sequel.

Crown of Midnight is definitely more action packed than Throne of Glass. There are also more violent and bloody scenes as well as romantic scenes. Celaena is also definitely more bad-ass in this book and shows the other characters and readers just what being an Adarlan's assassin means. She goes through quite a bit throughout the story and she keeps on growing. I noticed that Celaena, as well as the rest of the characters, act completely human. They make mistakes throughout this book and I found myself trying to tell them to fix them. :) These characters are stubborn though and they did what they felt was right. I loved learning more about Chaol and Dorian. We didn't get to learn a ton about them in the first book but we definitely get to see different sides of them here. Nehemia continues to be a great friend and such a brave women. Besides personal growth there is also the growth of relationships. Readers will see more of a relationship between Celaena and Chaol so I'll let you make of that what you want.

There are secrets that are uncovered and then there are more secrets made. There are new dangers in the castle as well as outside of it and no one is quite sure where someone's allegiances are. The end is very action packed and surprising and tear jerking,(at least for me it was). I just didn't see the end coming in a way. I didn't see all this other information coming until it was right in front of my eyes. All I know is that I cannot wait to read the next book and to learn more about this awesome world! If you haven't read it yet, then you are definitely missing out!

I haven't done a Wishlist Wednesday in awhile but there is one book that I am DYING to get my hands on! I am currently reading The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and I absolutely adore them. Then I saw that A Court of Thorns and Roses is coming out later this year!! The cover is AMAZING and the synopsis sounds so interesting! I wish I could read it right now...:(. What is on your wishlist this Wednesday?

Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Throne of Glass Review

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)
Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1)
By Sarah J. Maas
Published May 7th, 2013 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens
404 pages

5 stars - BRILLIANT!!

In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Review:

I have heard so many good things about this series and it has taken me way too long to start reading the books. Right when the New Year started I remedied that. Throne of Glass is the first book that I have read this year and I am definitely glad that it is. Sarah J. Maas knows how to write an incredible world  that is similar and yet different from our own. Throne of Glass grabbed my attention and didn't let go! I am just now starting the second book and cannot wait to learn more about these amazing characters.

Celaena is an AWESOME female lead! She is incredibly strong and brave in more way than one. She is an assassin and I have to admit that I love reading about female assassins. :) Celaena is more than just an assassin though. She has a big heart and can be kind and caring when she wants to be. She is also supportive and true to her beliefs and I admire that in a character. I enjoyed reading about her and Chaol and Dorian. Chaol is the Captain of the Guard and Dorian is the Crown Prince but they are both close friends. Dorian is not who everyone expects him to be. He isn't spoiled or rude but caring and a good friend. He's also pretty swoon worthy ;). AND...HE LIKES TO READ!! That is a pretty big plus in my book, lol. Chaol is such an awesome character as well. He doesn't really trust Celaena because she is a pretty skilled and dangerous assassin. But Chaol is loyal and caring as well. He looks out for Dorian and he even likes to read a bit too! Watching all three characters interact makes for a great time. I love the witty banter between each of them!

Besides the characters there is also the interesting story line and the mystery that the characters face. There is an evil in the castle and Celaena has to work to survive. Besides the unknown evil there is also the competition that Celaena must fight in to win her freedom. The fight scenes were some of my favorite parts because Maas wrote them in a way that I could see what was going on. They were interesting and suspenseful and I loved cheering on Celeana. There is action, suspense, mystery, romance and few sad moments all within the pages of this amazing book. The characters slowly grow and try to figure out who they are and who they want to become. I cannot wait to learn more about them and any new characters that are introduced. If you haven't checked it out, then do it soon!!

The Retribution of Mara Dyer Review

The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #3)
The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #3)
By Michelle Hodkin
Published November 4th, 2014 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
470 pages

5 stars - AMAZING CONCLUSION!!!

Mara Dyer wants to believe there's more to the lies she’s been told.
There is.

She doesn’t stop to think about where her quest for the truth might lead.
She should.

She never had to imagine how far she would go for vengeance.
She will now.

Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story.

Retribution has arrived.

Review:

Wow. What a stunning conclusion to such an amazing trilogy! I cannot believe that it is already over and that I have to say good-bye to some of my favorite characters. I finished this book at the end of 2014 but am just now getting to the review. I guess it is because I'm not really sure if I can adequately describe this book! So I won't say too much because I don't want to spoil anything. And when reading any of the Mara Dyer books it is really best to not know too much beforehand.

The last book starts off where the second one ended and almost right from the start there is action. There is also a ton of mystery and suspicion. So much goes on throughout this book and it is shorter that the one before it! Mara and her friends grow quite a bit and just about become who they really are. They realize that they aren't all that good or all that bad, they are just who they are. Mara especially realizes this and goes through many traumatic experiences but she keeps on going no matter what. Not too many new characters are introduced but we do get to see some familiar ones. My only problem is that there is not too much of Noah throughout the book and Noah is one of my favorites. :)

I guess I would say that this last book is a little more violent that the first two. But if violence doesn't bother you, then I don't think you'll have an issue with it. I didn't but I thought I'd let ya know. Readers learn more information and, of course, the rest of our questions are answered. We learn more about the past and more about the present. There were a few secrets that I didn't figure out till near the end and I applaud Hodkin for that. There is of course action, suspense, mystery, TEARS, and ROMANCE!! Those last two were very important to me. :) All in all, I enjoyed this book immensely! I couldn't put it down and finished it one day (sadly). I have really enjoyed this trilogy and am sad to see it end. I do hope that Hodkin will write some more stories because the Mara Dyer trilogy was brilliant. Check it out now!!!
