One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.
I have been meaning to write a review on this for a couple of days and now I have finally found the time. And since its been awhile since I read this book there won't be too much detail, not that there would have been anyways. I don't like spoiling things. :)
I was very impressed with Insurgent because not only was it a pretty great read but it was also an awesome second book in a series. I'm always weary of the second book in a series because it can end up repeating the same information or not stand up to the first book. But Insurgent met my expectations and was thrilling and interesting. There are new characters and new problems that we are introduced to.
Tris I feel ends up growing even more in this book and learning from her mistakes. She struggles with whether she should keep her secrets or let someone know. She struggles with her guilt and her feelings for Four but she just grows in the process. Four is great once again and we get to see even more of his feelings for Tris. Their relationship grows stronger because it is definitely put to some tests. And of course there are a few other characters that end up surprising us. There is even someone close to home that ends up not being who we thought they were.
But over all Insurgent was a thrilling and anticipating book. It didn't get boring and had me reading till morning. There were so many twists and surprises that I didn't see coming and there was romance and even some heartbreaks that had me a little teary eyed. The ending is action packed and has even more surprises to offer. It really has me waiting impatiently for the next book because I really can't wait to see what will happen to our characters next. So check this book out and see for yourself.
